Something Odd

1. Have you ever experienced something odd, and when you tried to tell someone else about it, they didn't believe you? Please explain your situation (making sure it is school appropriate) using descriptive word choice and vivid details. If this has not happened to you, think of this as a creative writing activity and use your imagination to create a fictional situation.

2. How do you compare and contrast with Lucy?

Happy thinking! Miss Bailin

  1. I have once had to tell a friend that I mad e something up to have fun so I tried to tell but she didn't beleive me. So I told her I wasn't joking so she took it seriously. She got mad because I lied to her but we got over it.

  2. 1.(A thought-up one)Once,I said that I had spotted a bright, unbelievle alien space ship and met the aliens on board to my BFF.She didn't believe me at all,I didn't even get to finish my first sentence. But in the end I just gave up on convincing her.

  3. 2.My thought-up idea sounds faker because Lucy's experience actually had better reasons to be real.My idea is also usaully joked around on those silly TV shows.

  4. 1.(a make believe one)One day I was at school when I looked up at the sun and saw a bird with a man riding on its back.I went over to my friend and said look up at the sun,so we both looked up at the sun and saw nothing. After that I told him that it really was true but he didn't believe me.

  5. 2.Mine and Lucy's story compare because they both are stuff that would never happen. They contrast because Lucy had a lot more to talk about in her story than I had in mine.

  6. 1.(Made Up)One time I was lying on my bed on a Saturday afternoon.Suddenly I was sucked into this world in which I battled as a Jedi in The Clone Wars.I got knocked out during a battle with Ventress. When I woke up, I was lying on my bed again. I told my friend about it, but he didn't believe me. I later realized that I had simply fallen asleep and had a dream.

2.My story is more believable, but both of our stories are about different worlds.

  7. (made up)Once when I was looking out the window I saw a battle between clones and battle droids but then I found out that I was day dreaming.

  10. 1.(this is a made-up one) One day i was reading a book.I turned a thin, waightless page. To my suprise there was a black and white picture with a long never-ending sea. All of a sudden the page turned to color and i could feel the water sprinkling across my face.I could hear a group of exited seagulls.I could see waves crashing against the billions of pieces of sand. Then suddenly the wind blew the magical page over, and tons of other unread pages flew ontop of the special page. I searched and searched to find that wonderful page.I could not find it. The very next day I told my friend about it. I was very sad because she did not believe me. Every day I tried to convince her.She still would not change her mind.Ever since that day I found the magical page, I kept searching for the astonoshing page in the pile of tons of unread pages.

2.My story is different than Lucy's because mine is not about a magical land and mine is a bit more realistic. Lucy and my story are alike because they both sound like they could never happen and they both are about a certain type of setting.

  11. I like how some of you used multiple and meaningful examples from the book.

I would like to see more creative ideas from my dreamers.

Really dig in deep with these answers.

    Good start!

  12. 1.well once i was playing a scary game in my bathroom with my friend and what we did was one of us went in the shower and turned the bath on than the other screamed and than we would both run out and turn the light off than at 12 pm we would go back in there and we would pretend to see a face. But i actualy saw it and my friend didnt belive me I was so sad than still today I see that face in any mirror I look into.
2.I can compare with lucy that both of our situations were wierd but I can contrast with lucy because my situation was scary and hers was not scary.
